It’s been over two years since we saw a new episode of The Boondocks, but finally, on May 2nd, the Peabody Award-winning Aaron McGruder series will return for a brand new season.
To celebrate the occasion, IGN TV highlights a different character from The Boondocks every week, to give you an idea of where they came from … and how this place could be offbeat.
This week, we have the star of the show himself – Huey.
Character Description: Huey Freeman is the main character in the comic series The Boondocks written by Aaron McGruder as well as the main character and main narrator of the animated TV series of the same name. Politically wise and a hardliner on borders, he regularly reflects on current events as well as the plight of African Americans, as they relate to the larger American community. He is a swordsman and practitioner close to a Master in Martial Arts.
Huey is voiced by actress Regina King
“Huey is a conspiracy theorist and believes that the behavior of his brother (Riley Freeman) will be one of the main factors that will play a role in this country’s demise,” says Regina King.
